For all interested in nature, history and culture the Salzburg Open-Air Museum with its original, traditional buildings, cultivated paths and rest areas, set in an ideal landscape for walks and hikes, is an attractive excursion destination.
The Salzburg Open-Air Museum is situated in stimulating natural landscapes at the foot of the Untersberg mountains in Großgmain, 10 kilometres south-west of the city of Salzburg.
Farming, living and economy in rural Salzburg, from the 16th to the 20th century, is displayed over an area of 50 hectares.
Particularly characteristic houses and farmyards have been transposed to the Open-Air Museum and rebuilt to their original state and authentically furnished.
